IPLEX SA II R / IPLEX II R : Features (1) Clear Images

Cutting-edge technologies achieve high-quality imaging

Exclusive CCD system

Exclusive CCD system

The eyes of the IPLEX II R Series are in a highly sensitive, highdensity micro CCD that captures images at high resolution with rich gradients and exceptional clarity throughout an extended dynamic range.

Precise optical system

Precise optical system

Olympus offers a comprehensive range of optical adapters, allowing almost any combination of brightness, depth of field (DOF), and field of view (FOV). These high-performance adapters sharply focus light at the micro-pixel level to realize supremely sharp, vivid detail that contributes to more precise measurement and inspection.

WIDER image processing algorithm

Images with a limited dynamic range tend to lose details in the brightest and darkest areas. However, Olympus has virtually eliminated such whiteout and blackout through a newly developed, proprietary image-processing algorithm that greatly expands the dynamic range. This wide dynamic extended range (WIDER) algorithm, exclusively featured on the IPLEX II R Series, brings out the details in the shadows and highlights. The resulting rich gradations naturally represent the inspection area as seen by the naked eye, allowing much more accurate inspection.
Dynamic range: The range of brightness in which an image can be faithfully reproduced

High Resolution LCD

The large 6.3-inch XGA high resolution LCD monitor provides 10x the resolution of conventional monitors (approx. 790,000pixels) and provides 25% more viewing area as well as a much wider dynamic range. It displays images with clear precision, bringing out the full potential of the high-resolution CCD so that users can inspect every detail with supreme accuracy.

IPLEX SA II R/ IPLEX II R: Features(2) Ease of Use, durability

Remote Visual Inspection

Quality inspections are easy with the integrated IPLEX II R Series

Only Olympus has the wide-ranging expertise required to create an all-in-one solution offering such simple operation and robust performance. For observation, measurement, recording and portability, the flexible and versatile new IPLEX II R Series makes otherwise troublesome operations surprisingly simple.

User-friendly operation

Simplicity from the moment you arrive at the inspection site

Just open the case, connect the power source and pick up the lightweight remote controller. Now you're ready to inspect. Packing away is just as easy. Turn the handle to retract the scope, store the cables and close the lid. Olympus meticulously refined every feature of IPLEX II R Series with everyday practicality in mind to make inspections totally hassle-free.

Simple one-handed operation

Simple one-handed operation

The lightweight ergonomically designed remote control unit lets you conduct all operations with a single hand. Designed to minimize the fatigue of extended operation, it provides buttons for frequently used functions that reduce the need to repeatedly refer to the menu screen. Inspection becomes speedier and more comfortable as a result.

Highly robust design

Sturdy body

Sturdy body

A highly rigid chassis and protective outer shell provide superior resistance to everyday shock and vibration. The shell consists of an ABS resin and polyamide compound that absorbs the shock of impact by dispersing it throughout the entire shell. The robust design of IPLEX II R Series continues to provide users with lower cost of ownership because of fewer repairs.

Durable, easy-to-insert insertion tube

Durable, easy-to-insert insertion tube

The Tough Tapered Flex tube is widely acclaimed for its superior insertability and durable inner construction (3 times more durable than conventional tubes). Its braided exterior is made of tungsten, an especially tough material typically used in cemented carbide and heatresistant alloys.

Variation in Insertion Tube Flexibility

"Tough Tapered Flex" tube
Featuring a more pliable distal end and stiffer proximal end, this original Olympus tube design provides the superior insertion capability you need to perform inspections more easily.

Greater inspection flexibility

50-watt metal-halide lamp

50-watt metal-halide lamp

Bright illumination is provided by a 50-watt metal-halide lamp. Both the lamp and its light guide feature designs highly acclaimed for providing quality brightness and light distribution that contribute to precise inspection.

Highly precise motorized tip angulation

Highly precise motorized tip angulation

Angulation of the insertion tube tip is motorized for smooth operation and can be controlled with the joystick on the remote control unit. The high-precision motor lets you position the insertion tube tip exactly where you need it.

Easy comparison of images

Easy comparison of images

Side-by-side comparison of two images is possible on the LCD monitor, allowing the inspector to display a previously stored image for comparison with a live or frozen image. Two combination modes are available for recorded freeze display and live display, and recorded freeze display and live freeze display.

Extended exposure

Extended exposure (up to 0.5 seconds) through longer shutter speeds allows the CCD to accumulate more available light. When viewing wide cavities like vessels and large pipes, extended exposure can be very useful. The wide dynamic range also contributes to clearer large-void observation.

Extended exposure image1 Extended exposure image2

Smooth, stepless zooming

The stepless zooming feature allows magnification to be adjusted between 1x and 3x in a smooth, continuous manner that keeps the image clearly in focus at all times. This feature enables the inspection of wide areas of the object as well as close-ups when problem areas are discovered. A panning function also allows easy up, down, left and right panning of the zoomed image.

IPLEX SA II R/ IPLEX II R: Features(3) Measurement accuracy

Remote Visual Inspection

Accurate measurement via zoom window

The zoom window allows up to 4x magnification of images. This helps decrease human errors when measuring between points and improves the accuracy of overall measurement.

Accurate measurement via zoom window

Clear indication of distance to object

Proprietary spot-ranging technology from Olympus greatly enhances inspection efficiency by clearly indicating the distance from the tip of the scope to the object on screen -in real-time. The distance is indicated via numerical value and color-coded bar, allowing users to easily determine the ideal measurement distance.

Clear indication of distance to object

NIST compliance*

The measurement verification block supplied with the Stereo optical adaptor complies with standards established by NIST, a US Federal agency that promotes the standardization of industrial technology. In addition, the Stereo tip adaptor can be optically matched to IPLEX II R Series videoscopes - in accordance with NIST standards to ensure traceability of the complete videoscope measurement system.

IPLEX SA II R/ IPLEX II R : Feature(4) Remote access inspections

Remote Visual Inspection

Observe and control live, real-time inspections from anywhere in the world

IPLEX II R features an integrated network card that provides direct communication to a company's wired or wireless computer network. Through the network, inspectors can grant access to many remote users for viewing live inspections, controlling the scope or instantly emailing still images. Examples of remote users vary with application and can include people such as off-site managers, engine manufacturer engineers, service consultants, etc. A networked IPLEX II R greatly reduces the time required to get valuable information in the hands of off-site decision makers and thus saves both time and money. Note: Network functions are currently only available for IPLEX SA II R.
